Red Bull Park is Anchor of $1 Billion Harrison Renewal, Largest in N.J.
Soccer fans will cheer as New Jersey Senate President Richard Codey, Assembly Speaker Albio Sires, Hudson County Executive Thomas A. DeGise, Harrison Mayor Raymond McDonough, AEG CEO & President Timothy J. Leiweke, AEG New York President Nick Sakiewicz and New York Red Bulls soccer players kick the very first goals at the future home of MLS’ New York Red Bulls to mark the start of construction of Red Bull Park, Tuesday, September 19, 11:15 a.m., Cape May Street near Frank E. Rodgers Blvd., Harrison.
Univision sports host Fernando Fiore will introduce the guests and legendary soccer announcer Ernesto Motta will lead the audience in the ‘Goooal!’ cheer.
The $200 million project includes a 25,000-seat stadium, the only soccer-specific stadium in the Metropolitan Area and home to the New York Red Bulls, concerts, special events, competitions, clinics and other sporting activities as a central part of the development of a Passaic River waterfront park. Red Bull Park is the centerpiece of the $1 billion Harrison MetroCentre development, the largest such renewal effort currently underway in New Jersey, which will feature three million square feet of Class A office space, 300,000 square feet of retail space and approximately 3,500 housing units. Red Bull Park is a short walk from the Harrison PATH Station and Newark’s Ironbound neighborhood via the Jackson Street Bridge.
