The Puerto Rico Islanders concluded their preseason exhibition matches by playing this past weekend in Aruba against the top two professional teams on the Premier League of Aruba.
On Friday, April 15, the Islanders downed Deportivo Nacional 3-0, with Isaías Bardales scoring in minute 29, followed by Raphel Ortiz in minute 34, and the final goal again by Bardales in the 38th minute.
Puerto Rico’s squad then scored its second victory of the weekend on Sunday, winning 1-0 against Racing Club Aruba (RCA), which had not lost a single match in 8 months. The only goal of the match was scored 14 minutes into play by former Rochester Rhino Corey Woolfolk, who has been sporting the Islanders’ uniform during the 2005 preseason.
The preseason roster demonstrated the quality and competitive spirit that has characterized an undefeated preseason for the Islanders. The Islanders 2005 Edition will be announced in an official press conference scheduled for Tuesday, April 19th. Their inaugural match for the season will be held in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, on the 29th of April against defending champions, Montreal Impact.
