I don't know De Jong (I've seen him playing twice) that well but it seems he's very talented! When you read the reply's on psvonline (www.psvonline.nl), and look at this:

http://www.knvb.nl/comp/wclub.sps?clubi ... zPath=2345

You see the team he is playing in (PSV B1), is doing quiet well.
So it could be possible some players of that team (Marcel de Jong including) will make it too PSV 1.

But on the other side; players like Robben, Vd Vaart and Van Persie were playing their first match, allready at the age of 16/17 (Robben played his first match for FC Groningen at the age of 15!)... and there aren't a lot of youthplayers at PSV who made it too the first team (when you compare it too Feyenoord/Ajax).

So it's hard to say he will be a great player, most people who've seen him playing were impressed... but a lot of people don't know him at all (the Dutch press never writes/tells something about him... and that isn't a good sign).

But in football you never know...

After doing some more research...

He seems to be the best player of that team and most people think he will make it too PSV 1! So you might see him when you, in 4/5 years go too the Philipsstadium... :D

(CP) - Playing for Canada is new for Marcel de Jong. And so is Canada.

The 16-year-old midfielder was born in Newmarket, Ont., to Dutch parents but moved to the Netherlands with his family when he was four or five. He has not been back to Canada since - until now. A member of the PSV Eindhoven youth setup since he was nine, de Jong is in Victoria to help Canada's cause at a CONCACAF world under-17 qualifying tournament.

The young Canadians open Wednesday against Cuba in the four-team round-robin that also includes Costa Rica and Mexico.

The winner of the group advances to the world championship in Finland in August. The U.S., whose side features 13-year-old sensation Freddy Adu, qualified for the worlds at another CONCACAF qualifying event earlier this month.

The runner-up in the Victoria event plays Jamaica, runner-up at the previous tournament, in a home-and-away playoff to determine CONCACAF's third entry at the world championship.

Canada found out about de Jong through an Ajax Amsterdam scout with ties to Canadian under-17 coach Stephen Hart. He was invited to a Canadian camp in Mexico in January and quickly showed his skills.

"He's quick, has very good technique as most players that play in Holland do," said Hart. "He should be an interesting player for people to follow."

De Jong says his parents wanted him to play for Canada but never mentioned it. He spent a couple years in the Dutch national team youth system but didn't like it. So he's delighted to wear the red and white of Canada over the orange of the Dutch.

An attacking midfielder who can also play up front, de Jong has already shown his scoring touch for Canada in Mexico against club opposition and in a warmup game against a local B.C. side.

De Jong, who still has relatives in Quebec and Toronto, lives with his parents about 20 minutes from Eindhoven. His parents are Dutch-born but spent 20 years in Canada.

He doesn't have many memories of Canada and is still taking his North American surroundings in.

Asked what strikes him about Canada, he says what many young visitors do - "the cars are bigger here."

In the Netherlands, he attends school daily with other PSV youngsters and trains twice a day Mondays and Tuesdays, once a day Thursdays and Fridays and then plays Saturday on the under-17 side.

"It's fun there," he said. I enjoy it."

The next step is the under-18 team. A pro contract could also come next year if the club sticks with him.

He grew up a fan of Eindhoven but admires England's David Beckham and Wales' Ryan Giggs. Both play for Manchester United but de Jong prefers Arsenal when it comes to English clubs.

Canada faces a tough task qualifying for the world under-17 championships. Costa Rica is considered a rising power at this level in CONCACAF and Mexico is always tough.

This is a picture of Marcel de Jong...

It's probably something about the fact that our U17 national team just missed out on qualifying for the U17 world cup in Finland...

Yes, that's it, the article is also saying De Jong is the only player in the Canada U-17team who isn't playing in Canada. :D
