Hi all,

Firstly appologys for by writing In French, I'm new to Montreal and my French is nowhere near good enough for that.

I was hoping to check out a few soccer games this year, and am after some advice.

How popular are the impact? Would I need to buy tickets in advance or can you just turn up at the door on the day?
Also where is best to sit?

Secondly is there anywhere near to the stadium where I can get a pre match beer? A bar or pub?

Thanks for your help

Right now, we have no idea about the popularity of the team since we're just about to play our first season in a new/bigger/better league. So it's a wild guess. In the past you usually didn't have much trouble finding tickets on the day of the game, but this year, we just don't know.

There is one spot close to the stadium, where the Ultras meet before and after the game called Bar 99. It is located at 4240 Hochelaga Street. One block down from thwe olympic stadium. If you're afetr a finer locally brewed beer, you can always go to L'Espace Public, which is located at the corner of Ontario/D'Orléans, which is roughly a 20-minute walk to/from the olympic stadium (25 minutes to/from Saputo).

Hi,

Don't be intimidated by the conversations here in french, most people on here will understand what you are talking about if you write in english. Welcome. I really have to try and get to a game in Montreal this year.

If you ever go to L'Espace Public, you can take the bus 125 at the Viau metro station and it leaves you right on the corner. It's quite far from the stadium but the beer is much better than at Bar 99.

And it's at the corner of Ontario/De Chambly, not Ontario/d'Orléans ;)

I'm from the uk, a city called Bristol in the south-west of england.

Thanks for the tips. What's the stadium like? Are and recommended Places to sit or avoid? I'm tempted with the lowest band of pricing for seats as the Websites describes it as the singing section, but would the view be any good?

Thanks guys
Rick

The singing section lol. I think you're refering to the ultras group. Bristol? You come from one of the pionner cities of the industrial revolution my friend.

Cheers!

Hi again,

So I'm going to my first game on Saturday with a group of other British ex-pats and a few locals.
Just wanted to ask a few follow up questions if that's ok?

Can you buy beer in the olympic stadium or not?

Someone mentioned that the ultras drink I bar 99 before the game which is 1 block from the stadium, now when you guys talk about the ultras, are they simply a group of really passionate impact fans, or are they more like the hooligans you get in the uk?

Thanks again for your help chaps.
Cheers
Rick

Well, if we were hooligans and not ultras, we'd be called hooligans and not ultras!(no, we aren't hooligans, we're ultras).

Late answer, but still, no one ever has anything to fear from the um 02 unless they're an idiot looking for trouble.

I also totally forgot to answer, of course people can buy beer, even all the way to the end of the game, this is montreal, not toronto or vancouver!
